The City of East Grand Rapids Public Safety handles numerous tasks. This office plans and manages public safety by supporting, supervising, and providing planning and guidance to the residents of The City of East Grand Rapids.
Traffic Control / Speeding Complaints
Speed concerns/complaints start with the Department of Public Safety. The Department of Public Safety is responsible for enforcement of speed limits.
Traffic calming requests start with the Department of Public Safety for background and review including enforcement activities, accident history, etc. Additional traffic calming involves partnering with the Department of Public Works Engineering team for additional reviews, policies, processes and potential solutions. Public Safety officers can issue citations for illegally-parked vehicles and can issue tickets when they can observe vehicles speeding or operating in an unsafe manner. Call the department at 949-7010 with questions and non-emergency requests for service. Don't hesitate to dial 9-1-1 if you have an emergency.
