KAYAK AND CANOE LAUNCH OPEN FOR SEASON
The Reeds Lake kayak and canoe launch, located behind the Public Safety building at 770 Lakeside Drive SE, is now open for the season. For more information, click here.

PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER BUTER PROMOTED TO SERGEANT
Join us in congratulating Cory Buter on his recent promotion to sergeant in our Public Safety Department. As sergeant, he will supervise C shift and serve as a liaison between officers and department management, among other responsibilities.
Sgt. Buter looks forward to continuing to serve our community in this new role. He enjoys connecting with EGR residents, especially at block parties, Public Safety tours and the department’s annual fall open house.

PUBLIC WORKS

NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK EVENTS
May 21-27 is recognized as National Public Works Week by the American Public Works Association. This year, our Public Works team, in partnership with the EGR branch of the Kent District Library, will host a storytime at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 24 in the library. This will be followed by a Touch-a-Truck event 10 a.m. to noon in the parking lot north of the library at the Community Center, 750 Lakeside Drive SE.

REEDS LAKE WATER TREATMENTS
Public Works will begin Reeds Lake weed, algae and invasive species treatments in partnership with PLM Lake and Land Management the week of May 15. Reeds Lake residents are encouraged to view the treatment schedule and full notice here.
Any questions about the treatments can be answered by Public Works at 616.940.4817.

EGR SCHOOLS FOUNDATION
Save the date for the EGRSF Community Service and Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner Wednesday, Sept. 13 at the JW Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids. Betsy Willey, class of 1964 and lifelong community supporter, will be honored with the Community Service and Leadership Award. Additionally, Bill Spindle, EGRHS class of 1981, will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award in recognition of his work as a climate and energy journalist and former Wall Street Journal Middle East Bureau chief.
