2023 Fourth of July Flyer

FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION

Join us for our annual Fourth of July Celebration made possible by title sponsor Corewell Health and support from the East Grand Rapids Community Foundation.

From noon to dusk on Tuesday, July 4, you can enjoy all-ages entertainment and activities at John Collins Park, including a concert and fireworks show later in the evening. 

The day’s schedule of events is:

  • Noon – Parade
  • 1-3:30 p.m. – Kids inflatables, food trucks and water ski show by Grand City Show Skiers
  • 8 p.m. to dusk –Full Cord concert
  • Dusk – Fireworks over Reeds Lake

The parade will begin at the intersection of Sherman Street SE and Wealthy Street and continue east on Wealthy, turning left on Lakeside Drive and ending at Reeds Lake Boulevard. 

After the parade, community members are invited to John Collins Park, 650 Lakeside Drive, for various activities, including kids inflatables, a water ski show by Grand City Show Skiers and a performance by music group Full Cord. Food trucks offering a variety of cuisines and treats will line Lakeside Drive throughout the afternoon.

The festivities will culminate with a fireworks show over Reeds Lake at dusk. Those attending the show are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs.

The City is also still accepting parade entries. Those wishing to participate can enter until 5 p.m. Friday, June 30.  

Please note: The East Grand Rapids Community Foundation will not be organizing the Reeds Lake Trailblazer 5K this year. Special thanks to past sponsors, participants, volunteers and organizers who made this event possible. The Foundation looks forward to exploring new opportunities to engage with the community.

Reeds Lake Run

REEDS LAKE RUN

Join us for the annual Reeds Lake Run at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 24. The event includes a 5K, 10K, Doggie Dash, Fun Run and Triple Crown.

2023 Bike Patrol

WELCOME, BIKE PATROL

Join us in welcoming Karen McBurney, Leo, Caiden Leech and Gavin Stott to our community this summer as part of Public Safety’s bike patrol. They will assist with traffic control, parking enforcement and youth helmet and crosswalk safety education.
 
 If you see the patrol during community events, such as Concerts and Movies in the Park and races, be sure to wave and say hello.

The next City Commission meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, July 10 at the Community Center, 750 Lakeside Drive SE.

Summer property taxes will be mailed out soon. The deadline to pay without penalty is Aug. 14.

WATER QUALITY & CONSUMER CONFIDENCE REPORT

We’re proud to present the annual Water Quality Consumer Confidence Report, which shows we continue to provide safe, quality drinking water that meets or exceeds state and federal standards.

The report will be included in the monthly water/sewer utility bill and as an attachment for residents and property owners who receive their bill via email.

BOATS, TRAILERS AND RVS
Outdoor storage of boats, trailers and RVs is allowed for up to 72 hours on streets and driveways. Otherwise, they must be stored indoors or in a rear yard, reasonably shielded from view.

TREE WATERING REMINDER
With dry conditions expected to continue, residents who have planted trees over the past two years are encouraged to water their trees at the base for 15 minutes twice a week.

To thank the community for its continuous support of students, EGRSF is bringing a Kona Ice truck and fun kids activities to East Grand Rapids Middle School from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, July 19. Kids of all ages and caregivers are welcome to stop by for a treat and some fun compliments of EGRSF.
