PLEASE SHARE YOUR FEEDBACK

Community park, recreation, open space and greenways plans are commonly referred to as five-year recreation plans. These planning documents include community information, parks and recreation property and amenity inventory, feedback from the community gathered from a community input process, goals and objectives and an action program for capital improvements that were identified through public input. The current 5-year Community Parks and Recreation Master Plan was completed in 2020 and is considered active with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) through the end of 2024.
In order to update the plan, community input is required to help determine the goals and objectives for the next five years, along with the identification of capital improvement projects in our parks and public spaces to ensure long-term development and sustainability of our park system.
Please take our Community Input Survey and share your feedback about our programs, facilities and public spaces. The survey will be available October 4 - November 4.
Also, please attend our public input session, Parks and Recreation Commission meeting or consider sending an email to input@eastgr.org if you have additional feedback to share outside of the survey process.
There is a Recreation Plan Open House scheduled for October 29, 2024 from 5pm - 7pm at the Community Center in the Commission Chambers. City staff and MCSA Group staff, the consultants for this process will be on site to answer questions and discuss potential park improvement projects for the upcoming 5 years. Feedback received at this meeting will be combined with survey responses to help develop a draft version of the 5-Year Recreation Plan for the Community to review before it is considered by the City Commission.
The Parks and Recreation Commission meetings are held on the 4th Monday of each month at 6:00pm in the City Commission Chambers, and public comment is always accepted at the beginning of the meeting, and anyone wanting to make a comment on the public record will be given the opportunity to speak.
If you are unable to attend the open house or the Parks and Recreation Commission meetings, or if you'd like to submit your feedback in writing, please send an email to input@eastgr.org with your thoughts. All emails received related to the Recreation Plan will be shared with City officials and will be included within Parks and Recreation Commission agenda packets.
Once the survey is complete, results will be available for the public to review along with the draft version of the plan for a 30-day period prior to the plan becoming final. Feedback on the draft plan can be sent to input@eastgr.org. A digital version of the draft plan will be published on this webpage, and a printed copy will be available for viewing at the Parks and Recreation Department within the Community Center.
